Q: Do we use lead wicks?
A: No, they are not legal to use in the U.S. We use all cotton wicks.
Q: Do we guarantee our products to meet your satisfaction?
A: Yes, if for any reason you are not satisfied, email us or call us and we will replace the product or return your money (less shipping charges).
Q: How many hours of burn time will I get out of a Southern Lights candle?
A: We do not give "burn times" and here is the reason. There are too many variables for each scent that can determine how long a candle will last. The scent used, color amount, if any, the type of wick use and of course the owner of the candle, you! But, we can tell you how to burn your candle properly, so you can get the best bang for your hard earned dollar!
BURNING A CANDLE PROPERLY:
The first time you burn your new candle is the most important burn. Your candle has a memory and will tend to only burn and have a melt pool as big as the last time you burned it. So, the first burn sets the pace of how your candle will burn in the future. Make sure to have enough time to let it have a full melt pool, which means that it should be liquified all the way across the top of the candle. Typically, on the first burn it can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the diameter of the jar being used. Before you burn it the next time, be sure to trim the wick to about 1/4 of an inch. Trimming the wick is very important, as this will help to cut back on excessive smoking from the candle. Trimming of the wick also will not allow the flame to be too large. Each time you burn your candle, allow time for a full melt pool. You should not have any wax left of the sides of the jar, which means you are not wasting your money! Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at one time, allow it to cool, trim your wick and then re-light.
Q: How long will our Soy Melts last?
A: Depending on the scent in question, 24 to 48 hours. Some scents are just stronger than others and will last a longer amount of time than other ones. But, most will last at least 24 hours and a great many will last longer than that. If you have an electric warmer and leave it on all the time, your melt may only last 24 to 36 hours.
Q: Can you replace the heating plate in the heat plate warmers?
A: Unfortunately, no. But, so far we have not had one returned because it went out. Now, some have came to us from the manufacturer not wired quite right but even that is not common.
Q: If the top of my dish on my warmer breaks, can I buy a replacement for it?
A: No, the manufacturer only sells them as sets, not as individual pieces.
